Professor He Zhipeng invited to the 21st Red Cross International Humanitarian Law Moot (2023)

Serving as a judge, Professor He Zhipeng was invited to the 21st Red Cross International Humanitarian Law Moot in Hong Kong SAR in March.

The Red Cross IHL Moot is co-organized by the Hong Kong Red Cross (HKRC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). This is the largest IHL mooting competition in the Asia-Pacific region with participating teams coming from distinguished universities. The Red Cross IHL Moot disseminates the importance of IHL among young legal generation in the region. The enthusiastic participation of local legal professionals from the judiciary, legal firms, and academic institutions in the IHL Moot is another essential demonstration of the concern towards international humanitarian issues.

With a total of 24 teams from Asia Pacific countries and regions joining in the competition, there are more than 60 professionals from governments, the academia, legal practice sectors, and international organizations serving as judges.

Professor He Zhipeng has gained a better understanding about the evaluation criteria of international moot court competition. This experience is beneficial to enhance effective guidance to moot court teams at JLU School of Law, and help JLU teams to achieve better results in future competitions.

Professor He Zhipeng also participated in a seminar on the implementation of international humanitarian law and exchanged ideas with experts from various areas. In the meantime, he also met faculty members, students, and alumni of City University of Hong Kong. Professor He Zhipengs trip to Hong Kong SAR has demonstrated the academic reputation of JLU School of Law and contributes to the internationalization of the discipline of law.
