JLU Team Wins Prizes in Invitational Moot Arbitration Competition

The 2nd Invitational Moot Arbitration Competition involving colleges and universities from various areas in China,including the mainland, Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR concluded on 28 August. The team of JLU School of Law participated and won five awards.


The event attracted 78 teams from 55 universities in the Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR. JLU School of Law Team consists of nine members. Namely, they are Fan Bingyi (team leader), Zhou Ming(court debater), Yu Runtian (court debater), Xiao Zhengyi, Wang Lanzhou, Zhu Yujia, Zhao Wanting, Chen Jiahao, and Qi Ziyu. With the guidance of Professor He Zhipeng, Dean of JLU School of Law, and supported by many other teachers, the team has overcome difficulties to compete online.



The competition began with a brief-writing phase, which produced the top 16 teams. JLU School of Law Team stood out in the sixth place and successfully entered the finals. In the final, with the unanimous recognition of all judges and the organizing committee, the team got three honors in the written phase: Best Application Award, Best Claimant MEMO Award and Best Respondent MEMO Award. Zhou Ming and Yu Runtian won the Best Respondents Lawyer Debate Award for their outstanding performance. In addition, the team also won the Excellent Organization Award as well.



The competition establishes an exchange platform for cross-border contact to strengthen academic communication. The teams performance demonstrates JLUs efforts and achievements in the cultivation of foreign-related legal talents. Increasing support for participation in major international arbitration competition is essential to improve students legal practice skills.
