“Sailing Plan” for 2020 Freshmen (1) : The First Party Lecture

To help freshmen adapt to university life, Zhou Chunguo, Secretary of CPC Committee at School of Law delivered a lecture on the topic of “To become a JLUer with Patriotismon 20th September in accordance with the Sailing Plan” for 2020 freshmen. Zhou started to introduce Jilin University and then analyzed the current status and trends of global advancement and encouraged students to develop into a sense of responsibility. The lecture was hosted by Lin Yuanyuan, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and Deputy Dean of School of Law.



At the beginning of the lecture, Secretary Zhou Chunguo raised a question: What does a good university provide for students? Then he comprehensively analyzed the important role of universities in cultivating the independent and integrated personality by examples. Zhou motivated students to be strict in self-discipline and make continuous progress step by step.



In the following session, Zhou began with the positioning of Jilin University, and outlined  Jilin University’s blueprint from multiple dimensions. He pointed out that the “red gene” (the spirit of revolution) has been existing since the establishment of Jilin University. As a member of JLU, students should keep faithful to the original aspiration and inherit the fine tradition.

Finally, Secretary Zhou invoked Feng Youlans Four Realms and Maslows Hierarchy Theory of Needs to illustrate the meaning of patriotism in the realm of life. From the perspective of Chinese historical practice and advantages of Chinas characteristic system, he encouraged students to maintain political integrity, think in big-picture terms, follow the leadership core, and keep in alignment, as well as to be confidence in the path, theory, system, and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics. He hopes the students to integrate individual development into the great process of realizing the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
